Viseu is a region in the northern part of Portugal, completely surrounded by the country's territories. This region was colonized and mastered in the days of Ancient Rome. Some architectural monuments of those times have survived to this day, as well as many other historically and culturally significant objects that are the main attractions of the region. 

Viseu is an economically and infrastructurally developed region of Portugal, therefore, despite the absence of a coastal territory, real estate here is more expensive than the national average. The journey from Lisbon to Viseu (the capital of the region) takes about three and a half hours. 

Viseu itself has public transport in the form of buses, so getting around the city is easy. Many locals prefer a more economical and environmentally friendly means of transportation to buses - a bicycle.

Viseu - both the city and the region - is rich in historical monuments. This historically contributed to the strategically important location of the region. Start exploring the area and sightseeing should be from the center of Viseu. The remains of buildings from the era of Ancient Rome, as well as the fortress gates and walls of the 15th century, have been preserved here. No less interesting is the Cathedral of the city, built on the highest place in the city in the 11th century - in honor of the liberation of the city from Moorish rule.
