One of the main attractions of the province is the capital - the eomonymous city of Salamanca. It is the most ancient city of the autonomy of Leon and Castile. There are quite a lot of architectural monuments. Therefore, the city itself has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1985. In the city, as well as in close proximity to it, there are several dozen monasteries, churches, universities, mansions and other interesting buildings.
A big holiday is also celebrated on October 31. It is dedicated to the miraculous rescue of the city during of the Lisbon earthquake of 1755.
Traveling around the province, you should definitely try the local dishes, the main of which is a roasted suckling pig and smoked sausage El Forinato.
