Information

Portalegre is a district in the central part of Portugal on the border with Spain. The region has a mild Mediterranean climate, which makes it comfortable and attractive in terms of life.

Portalegre, like some other central regions of the country, is sparsely populated, but at the same time it is an important element in the economic structure of the country, therefore it is quite developed in terms of infrastructure.

Real State

Sales and rentals of apartments in Portalegre - one of the most affordable options to become the owner of real estate in Portugal. Since this district is one of the sparsely populated in the country, real estate here is quite affordable. For a fairly moderate amount , you can buy a small apartment in an old high-rise building. Despite the age of 30-40 years, such houses are in a more tolerable condition, and many of the apartments offered in them have cosmetic repairs. But, if you plan to live in such an apartment all year round, you still cannot do without a good repair, which will take about the same amount.

In principle, the problem can be solved in another way - the sale and rental of apartments in Portalegre if you have a slightly bigger budget. These are quite comfortable and fully furnished apartments, but in houses built in the middle of the last century. Despite their venerable age, such buildings are very well preserved, but there may be problems with communications, often simply absent.

Selling and renting houses in Portalegre is also an inexpensive option for buying a home. Sale and rental of houses in Portalegre for higher amounts , these are already very good offers. For that kind of money, houses with swimming pools and a well-equipped local area are often sold here, although they are located far from infrastructure facilities. For foreigners, it is these options that are the most acceptable, both in terms of cost and in terms of the opportunities that such a purchase opens up.

An important advantage of the Portuguese legal system is the ability of the owner to fully manage his property and receive income from it. Therefore, investing in real estate in this country is an excellent option for obtaining a stable income.

Taking into account the fact that the infrastructure of the country as a whole and the region in particular is now actively developing, it is possible tobuy a land plot in Portalegre and, having received a building permit, build a residential or commercial facility on your own.

Transport

There are a lot of flights from european cities to Lisbon international airport. Therefore, you will have to get to Portalegre by bus - the distance is relatively short and you can overcome it in a couple of hours. There is also the option of traveling by train, but in the capital of the district - the city of the same name Portalegre - there is no railway station, so from Lisbon you can take the train to other large settlements - Elvas and Ponte de Sor.

Given the small number of large settlements in the district, the road network here is not very developed - life is mainly concentrated near highways.

Many locals use bicycles to get around towns and cities. Given the small size, it is very convenient and environmentally friendly.

Attractions

The main feature of the district is its beautiful nature. Therefore, do not be too lazy to spend a few days and go around Portalegre in its entirety. Along the way, you can see local attractions, most of which are concentrated in the capital of the district - churches, cathedrals, the municipal museum. The local cathedral dates back to the 12th century and is one of the most beautiful monuments of medieval architecture preserved on the Iberian Peninsula. Also in Portalegre is the house-museum of the famous Portuguese playwright and poet José Régio.

When traveling around the area, be sure to try the local cuisine. For the most part, it is similar to the Mediterranean, but it also has some peculiarities, for example, interesting sweets baked in many monasteries, somewhat reminiscent of modern cupcakes.
