Information

Évora is a region in southeastern Portugal bordering Spain. This historically significant region of the country has been known since ancient Rome as the residence of the rebellious commander Quintus Sertorius.

In the 15th and 16th centuries, this area was the seat of the Portuguese royal court, which is considered the "golden age" of Évora. Today it is one of the most beautiful districts of the country, famous not only for its natural resources, but also for its beautiful architecture. The historical center of the capital of the district - the city of Evora - is included in the UNESCO cultural heritage list.

Real State

Despite the lack of access to the sea, Evora is a developed region in terms of tourism. Therefore, real estate prices here are quite high. but this is not caused by the high cost per square meter of real estate, but by the large number of offers from the category of luxury housing.

Sale and rental of apartments in Evora is the most affordable option to become the owner of housing in Portugal. In the real estate market, you can always find budget options. Basically, these are small and medium-sized apartments in high-rise buildings built about a quarter of a century ago. They are modest in size and of dubious comfort, often in need of repair, but, nevertheless, quite suitable for habitation.

The sale and rental of apartments in Evora cost an order of magnitude higher  - this is a more comfortable category of housing. Usually these are apartments in houses built 10-15 years ago with a good layout and furniture.

Sales and rentals of houses in Évora at medium and high prices. But such proposals apply to buildings located far from cities and large settlements. Although with good transport accessibility. It is worth being prepared for the fact that such an inexpensive house will require investments in furniture and, most likely, repairs.

Selling and renting houses in Évora, in which you practically do not have to invest (with the exception of furniture), requires quite significant costs. Within these limits, you can find many interesting offers, although almost all of them concern not the newest housing. But for this money, you are almost guaranteed to get a living area of about 200 square meters and groomed house territory with plantings and a swimming pool. Offers in this price category refer mainly to rural areas. For a city house (usually in the suburbs) you will have to pay 2-3 times more.

For a fairly large amount within the district, you can buy a real estate or a farm with a garden, olive groves, an area of several square kilometers. This is a ready-made stable agricultural business that brings regular income.

Buying a plot of land in Évora is easy. But usually this is not just land, but a plot with buildings. Although often, except for demolition, they are no longer good for anything.

Transport

To get to the capital of the district - the city of the same name Evora - will have to be from Lisbon - only there are direct flights from other European cities. However, the relative proximity of these cities allows you to do this without any difficulty. Five train routes run daily between Lisbon and Evora. Two and a half hours on the road - and you are there. There is also an option to go this way by bus. The ticket price and travel time are about the same.

Unlike neighboring Spain, where the bus is the most convenient means of transportation, rail transport is well developed in Portugal. Evora is connected by rail with such cities as Setúbal, Lagos, Faro.

You can move around the city by public transport or taxi. Although many tourists prefer cycling.

Attractions

In Evora (both in the capital and in the district as a whole) there are many historical monuments. The most ancient are the ruins of the temple of Diana, dating back to the 2nd-3rd centuries AD.

No less remarkable is the building of the University, built in the 16th century by one of the cardinals. The 18-kilometer Aqueduct, also built in the 16th century, is interesting.

You can visit these and other attractions as part of a sightseeing tour with a professional guide.

For connoisseurs of exotic cuisine, culinary and wine tours are held, during which you can enjoy all the variety of Portuguese cuisine and taste the local wines that Évora has been famous for for many centuries.
