Relevant information about Province of Avila

Information

Avila is a province in the west of Spain, located in the highlands, which affects the climate. It is more typical for central Russia - with cold winters (temperatures sink to -17C) and cool summers (+ 20C). Although the region doesn’t have a tropical climate, it still remains quite attractive due to the beautiful mountain nature and the large number of historical sights, among them - the provincial capital - the city of Avila, built in the 5th century.

Real State

Taking into account the characteristics of the province, there is enough affordable housing here. Besides the sale and rental of houses in Ávila, are as popular as the townhouses, apartments. The provincial capital – is a small town with a population of only a bit more than 50 000 people, and so that there is not many available houses here – therefor the tourist flow is not so big. However, when it comes to other settlements in the region, apartments for sale and rent in Ávila are quite in demand. The best in terms of cost per square meter of housing is an area of 100 square meters and above. Quite comfortable fully furnished apartments in the capital of the region with a convenient location are sold for 90 000+ euros. And at a double you can find elite apartments for sale and rent in Ávila – with an area of 180+ square meters.

Houses for sale and rent in Ávila are neither in great demand by the Spaniards themselves, nor other perspective Europeans. Therefore, housing in the region is very affordable for our compatriots. For example, a 250-sq.m-villa for 180-200 thousand euros - it is real deal in this area. From time to time, the local government arranges the sale of bank property with substantial discounts, which further increases the chances of a comfortable purchase of real estate.

Villas for sale in Ávila for 500 000 euros is a chance to make profitable investments. Firstly, for this price you can buy a classy house on the bank of the river and with good access. Secondly, such an investment in the Spanish economy will be enough to get certain privileges provided by the legislation of the country:

• Residence permit

• The Schengen visa for six months.

• Mortgage loans in Spanish banks.

• Preferential taxes on luxury goods.

On the other hand it is rather difficult to buy the piece of land in Ávila. Because of the mountainous location, there is not so much land here, and the part of it is under the protection of UNESCO and conservation organizations.

Transport

The region has no airport, so you can reach it only with transfers. Firstly you need to take a direct flight to the capital of Spain - Madrid, then take a bus or train to Avila. There is a transport connection between Avila and Valladolid, which can also be reached by plane.

Getting to the region's capital by train would be a little more expensive, but it should be kept in mind in mind that buses from Madrid to Avila go every two hours, so it often happens that the tickets for the next trip are no longer available. So the waiting time can be longer.

You can comfortably travel around the province by bus or rented car. There is quite a developed connection of roads, and there are basically no toll roads.

As for the city of Avila, it is relatively small, and therefore it is quite possible to get around on foot. For the lazy tourist – there is a tram, which goes past all the major sights.

Attractions

The main thing, than makes the region attractive, is its rich cultural and historical heritage. Therefore, its necessary to begin getting to know the province with a tour around the region. So the best option would be, to hire a professional guide or a local guide. The first option will cost about 50 euros per day, the second – 0.5-2 times cheaper – depends on the agreement you make. In the capital, one should pay attention to the ramparts of the city, which is well preserved almost from the time of its foundation. The total length of its more than 2.5 kilometers, there are about a hundred towers and ten gates here.

Of a great interest is the Cathedral of Avila, which also functions as a defensive structure. It represents one of the few preserved monuments of transitional architecture - from the Romanesque to the Gothic style.

Fans of noisy entertainment and attractions will most likely not enjoy saying in the province. This region is the so-called "Old Spain", known for its patriarchal and measured lifestyle. It is certainly worth a stay if you're looking for a privacy and want to regularly enjoy the wonderful Spanish cuisine and local wines.

It is especially interesting to visit in the province in October, when the summer heat is over and the snow has not fallen yet. Almost the entire month here are held the fests in honor of St. Theresa - patron saint of the city. At this time, there are numerous attractions, arranged bullfights, concerts and, of course, a spectacular mass led by the bishop of the city.
