Transport
Formentera is an island, located far away from other islands of the archipelago, so it is a little difficult to reach it. On the island there is no airport, so the connection to them is possible only by sea. Three times a week from Denia (mainland Spain) to Formentera runs a ferry. The road will take 2.5 hours, the ticket price, depending on the season ranges from 250 to 360 euros.
Also, there is a ferry service between Ibiza and Formentera. Trip duration is 1 hour, a ticket costs 37 to 40 euros (round trip). Approximately the same amount costs the trip on a high-speed passenger catamaran that overcomes the way from Ibiza to Formentera in just half an hour.
On the island there is a ring road, which connects three largest settlements of the island. Along the route daily runs a bus. In the tourist season - from May to October the bus runs every two hours, the rest of the time - every day. Taxis and private vehicles on the island are not so often used, but bikes are widespread. The territory of Formentera is equipped with 19 cycle routes covering all the attractions of the island.
Attractions
Formentera is a quiet island with mostly peaceful beach rest. On the island are situated a number of historical attractions - mostly signs of an ancient civilization, which, according to archaeologists, was the first one in this part of the world.
Here you should definitely be offered a tour of the island by car or bike, which costs 55 euros. But it is better to walk around the island on your own, renting a bicycle.
Going on a trip, do not forget to stock up on drinking water or other beverages - the island has no fresh water, which brings benefits to cafes, restaurants, and hotels, which offer water for a fabulous price. But here it is possible to eat relatively cheap. Elegant seafood dinner with lobster will cost in the region 25-30 euros.
The most developed in terms of infrastructure is the city of Es Puzhols where you can find a lot of hotels, cafes, restaurants and shops selling everything you need. Open times are standard for the whole of Spain - from 9:30 to 21:30 with a break from 14:00 to 17:00.
