Information
Costa Brava (Rocky Shore) is part of the Mediterranean coast located in the west of Catalogue - near the border with France. The region with magnificent nature combines sandy beaches, forests and high mountains, where the ancient dolmens and ruins of medieval and even Roman castles are preserved.
Real State
Houses for sale and rent on the Costa Brava, unlike the other regions of the Spanish coast, here you can hardly find budget houses. The reason is the close location to the borders of France and the French Cote-d'azur, as well as a high level of infrastructural development. Even the sale and rent of apartments on the Costa Brava mostly covers quite expensive objects with the area of 75+ square meters.
The house located deeper on the coast can be purchased at a cheaper price. But there are very few of them. The majority of the property here are luxurious villas with swimming pools, golf courses, gardens and huge pieces of land.
Buying a piece of land on the Costa Brava is also quite difficult. Basically all the promising land has been already sold for housing and commercial real estate.
The level of sales and rents of apartments on the Costa Brava hasn’t reduced a lot even during the crisis years – after 2007, when in some Spanish regions the prices have sunk for 50-60%. Today, the average cost per square meter of a house on the Costa Brava has almost returned to pre-crisis level and continues to increase slowly. According to analysts, this tendency remains for at least the next 5-7 years, so it makes great sense to invest in the real estate of this region.
Homes for sale and rent on the Costa Brava is a good option for long-term financial investments, taking into account the price tendency of recent years. But you should be prepared for the fact that the good house will also have a high price, which is, however, more than justified by the tourist attractiveness and infrastructure of the region.
Transport
It is possible to get to any place on the Costa Brava by bus. The well-developed transport network connects all settlements of the coast.
There are no airports on the territory of Costa Brava, so you need to get to Barcelona or Girona, and from there by bus to the desired place of your vacation. The average cost of a bus ticket from Barcelona or Girona is 25-30 euros. There is also a bus connection with France.
Taxis in Costa Brava are quite expensive. It is also possible to rent a car on the Costa Brava. Driving along the coast by car would be the most convenient way of travelling, of course, if you plan to travel a lot.
Attractions
On the territory of the Costa Brava there is a huge amount of entertainment - from classical night clubs and water parks to historic sights and very exotic - discos (which remind the style of the Soviet Union parties).
Water parks are basically in each major resort town. Ticket prices are ranging from 18 euros, and may slightly vary depending on the season.
In all the cities of Costa Brava there is so-called "Night at the Museum", when all the museums open their doors for at least several hours. Here you can take part in the interesting excursions and discover the history and culture of the region.
The ancient castle of Peralada with a huge library of more than 70 000 volumes is another attraction of the region. Here you can taste wonderful wine and have a lunch made of locally produced specialties of the national Mediterranean cuisine. The lunch will cost 25 euros.
You can go to Costa Brava in the winter as well. After the New Year there is another one event here, called Pilgrim's Vow - a colorful carnival procession, which is held in the town called Tossa del Mar.
Another interesting event is the Winter Carnival, not so long before the first Sunday in Lent , usually falls on the middle or end of February.
